Company Environment Management Policy

STATEMENT OF INTENT

As a leading Hydraulic & Pneumatic Engineering organisation committed to the application of world best technologies, effective operations and total quality, Primary Fluid Power Limited recognises the impact that its business activities and products have on its employees, the Environment and the public.  Within our ISO 9000:2000 certified management system, we are employing ISO 14000 standards to our environmental management system.

As part of its Corporate strategy the company intends to:

  1. Develop a culture which recognises the importance of Health, Safety and the Environment to the success of it business and exercise its responsibilities in a manner that reflects this.

  2. Develop products and operate facilities in a manner that minimises risk to employees, the business, the Environment and the community at large.

  3. Continually improve its performance in Environmental issues through the participation, commitment and support of all its employees.

POLICY STATEMENTS

Every business activity has an impact on the Environment and therefore, the company must have an integrated approach to developing opportunities and solving its own problems.  By investing in the future of its Employees and the environment it will be securing the future of its business.

Primary Fluid Power Limited will:

  1. Comply with Environmental legislation by developing and adopting its own standards based on best practice.

  2. Develop and maintain the awareness and competence of its employees in order to adequately address Environmental issues.

  3. Create mechanisms for transfer of technologies and solutions to Environmental problems across its business.

  4. Demonstrate a positive commitment to the systematic avoidance, reduction and elimination of Environmental risks, consistent with sound business practices and procedures. 

  5. Continually measure, monitor and improve its performance in Waste Management.

  6. Adopt a multi-disciplinary approach to reducing the environmental impact of manufacturing process.

SCOPE

This policy will cover all Environmental aspects relating to the following:

  1. Minimisation of waste, effluents and emissions.

  2. Reduction of material usage and water usage.

  3. Optimisation of energy usage and effective energy management.

  4. Improvement in housekeeping measure for all sites land and buildings.

  5. Utilisation of Product Life Cycle Analysis to determine the environmental impact of raw materials, product use and disposal.

  6. Implementation of environmental emergency contingency plans.

ORGANISATION AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Managing Director has overall responsibility for implementing this policy.

The Managing Director will be responsible for direction, co-ordination, communication and performance review on Environmental matters.

The Managing Director will in turn delegate responsibility and authority for its implementation to all Managers, according to their function.

All employees are responsible for the attainment of the objectives of this policy.  The Company will provide appropriate encouragement, instruction and training to enable them to meet their statutory obligations and to achieve the Company’s aims.

IMPLEMENTATION

The Managing Director will make appropriate arrangements for implementing the Group Policy.  Such arrangements will ensure that there is a clear line of authority and responsibility for Environmental issues.

At each operational site a Senior Manager will be directly responsible for:

  • implementation of the policy

  • ensuring that appropriate procedures and arrangements are established

  • communication of the policy and the arrangement

  • monitoring and reviewing the performance

THE COMPANY WILL ENSURE THAT AS FAR AS IS REASONABLY  PRACTICABLE THAT EMPLOYEES WILL ADHERE TO THE POLICY.
