NEW MULTI TASK FARM VEHICLE

Today’s demand for a multi task vehicle for use on farms and in forestry has now changed due to new regulations and the high cost of traditional farming and forestry vehicles. Primary Fluid Power were invited to design the drive system for a new range of vehicles giving the market a new option with greater flexibility at a very competitive price. The new vehicle range called for an innovative compact design and reliable products.

The requirements were for a vehicle which could travel on normal tarmac roads at safe speeds, and be able to provide variable speed and torque off road,gradients which vary and ground conditions which change. Infinitely variable speed was needed in the two ranges. The low range provides power for carrying loads and climbing steep hills and the high range provides a fast transport speed when conditions are not so tough.

The drive power was a 25 HP diesel engine with a 12 volt dc battery and a hydraulic transmission with built in brakes giving 2 or 4 wheel drive options. Speed on the road was up to 40 k/h with an off road capability of a 30% gradient.

Primary Fluid Power applied their design experience, and sales engineers to closely liaised with the customer resulting in a system which met all their requirements. Tests carried out exceeded all expectations.

The team at Primary FP have designed a closed loop circuit based on an Eaton 72400 series piston pump and Eaton T series motor with built in static brakes. Primary also supplied all ancillary equipment such as valves, pipes and fittings. These are supplied as a kit and can now be repeated at a competitive price.

The vehicle is now going into production and sales are expected to grow rapidly.

This new machine will help in reducing costs in farming and forestry, and reduce manual labour requirement in the movement of materials to remote parts of our countryside.
